After the training
“After finishing my studies, I went backpacking through Southeast Asia for a few months. It was a beautiful adventure and taught me a lot. On my bucket list will always remain; to see more of the world.”
Proud of
“After completing my HBO, I went to university to obtain a Master’s degree. After HBO, I realized I wasn’t done learning yet. Still, I started a master’s at the university with some doubt—mainly whether, with my practical mindset, I would make it in the ‘academic’ world. With my perseverance, I managed to complete it. I’m quite proud of that! Afterwards, I went backpacking in Southeast Asia for 3 months, a real challenge and an amazing experience. It was also a moment for me to look back on my study years and make plans for the future, such as getting a first real job.”
A perfect match
“When I was looking for a job, I wanted a family business, international, dynamic, in a growing market, and a maximum 45-minute drive from Lichtenvoorde. It turned out to be a 5-minute bike ride, which is great. I’ve been working here for 5 ½ years now, starting in a more supportive and operational role, and have since grown into a commercial role; this match seems perfect.”
Morssinkhof excellent employer
“Morssinkhof Plastics is actually my first real employer. It’s a company where you get many opportunities, and if you want to develop yourself, there are plenty of possibilities here!
There is an informal company culture in which we collaborate a lot and aim to serve customers as well as possible. I’m really a family person and feel good here; this suits me.”
Business Development
“The question I often ask myself is: what can we make, and where can we apply it? My daily tasks are extensive and very dynamic; I’m in contact with customers and suppliers and I handle the purchase of materials as well as questions about quality and application areas. For example, we even brought the possibilities of recyclate to the attention of Unilever, specifically for their brand Andrélon. For this, I managed the project with test material and contributed ideas based on this customer’s needs. What I enjoy most about my role is the interaction with all kinds of people—not only customers and suppliers at home and abroad, but also colleagues, both in Lichtenvoorde and, among others, in Heerenveen and Zeewolde.”
Challenge
“For me, it’s a challenge to set priorities: what is important for the development of the company, which partners we can grow with and collaborate with for a more sustainable use of plastics. I also find it important to think along about how we can make working at Morssinkhof-Rymoplast even more enjoyable, easier, and better, and how we can develop as an organization in this regard.”
The future
“I definitely see myself still working here in 5 years. There’s still so much I can learn and contribute, with all the developments coming our way. We are one of the larger recyclers of plastics in Europe, and with our experience and knowledge we can truly make a difference in the transition to a circular economy. I think it’s great that I get to contribute to that every day.”
